Directions to our home!

16 Hay Road
Belmont
(617) 484-1388

Our house sits between Hay Road and Old Concord Road. Our driveway is on Hay Road and has room for about 10 cars. We have a walkway out to Old Concord Road which would be numbered 48 or 50 Old Concord Road, if it had an address. Old Concord Road is called Centre Avenue for the bottom third closer to Belmont Center.

If you have a good reason to park in our driveway, you can probably find room. There might be room for a couple of cars in our neighbors' driveways (please make sure to let Bonnie know if you use that option). Otherwise, the rest of you should park on Old Concord Road (see below).

First set of directions below are to front door. Next group is to alternate parking on Old Concord Road. Third option is for folks who would prefer not to climb steepest part of hill, probably worth considering on snowy days. Lastly, are the walking directions for those of you who want to use public transportation. Since electrons are cheap, all options should have all the details you need. You should find the set of directions that works for you. You shouldn't need to refer to multiple paragraphs. It's not really as complicated as all these directions might make it sound. To help, here is a map:

Hay Road Map

And here is a link (hopefully it will continue to work) to a map on Bing which, amazingly, has our house in the right location on our street, and some good pictures of our house before and after our construction. Darn! That didn't last and that's why we suggest to not trust your GPS! Now it has a neighbor's house as where we live. Google is a bit better now. It has the house in the right place, but no way to get to it. It expects your car to climb through our neighbor's lawn :-( But here's that link to the google map if you want to see where our house sits, and what our roof looked like before we added solar panels. You might be able to use these links for finding directions from your location, but please use our directions once you are close, or you will probably get confused in our neighborhood.

WARNING:
Do not depend on GPSs to find our house. Many have our street attached to the wrong street. Once in our neighborhood, please use these directions.

Alternate directions to alternate parking which avoids climbing steepest part of hill:

From light at intersection of Concord Ave. and Pleasant St., Rt. 60:

Continue up Concord Ave., the bigger two-lane road, as it climbs to the right. When you almost get to crest of hill, look on left for very small street, Old Concord Ave. It's right next to 600 Concord Ave. which also has a sign there. If you see Pinehurst Road or Day School Lane on your left, you went a little too far. There are no streets on the right until you see Somerset. If you do find Somerset, you went way too far. Once on Old Concord, drive slowly. It's a very narrow road so you'll need to turn slowly. Old Concord Road is very bumpy so you should continue slowly. Go about 1/4 mi. After you pass 52 Old Concord Road (tan house) and before you pass 46 Centre Ave. (grey house), both on your right, you will see hydrant on your right and a street sign for Old Concord Road on your left. Walking directions to our house using Public Transportation:

Take Commuter Rail (Fitchburg line) or Bus (#74 Bus or #75 Bus from Harvard Square) to Belmont Center:

Go up hill from the train station or where the bus drops you off. You are on Concord Avenue. You will come to a light and you will see the Police Station on your left. Go straight and then IMMEDIATELY bear left, left of the tan house with dark green trim in front of you, straight up the hill on Centre Ave. It's skinny and might look like a driveway or alley. Go past Hay Road on your left and continue up hill, about 1/4 mile from light. After you pass 26 Centre Ave (blue house), 34 Centre Ave (red house) and 46 Centre Ave. (grey house) and before you pass 52 Old Concord Road (tan house), all on your left, you will see hydrant on your left and a street sign for Old Concord Road on your right. Our house, yellow with green trim and roof, will be immediately to your left. There's a driveway next to the stone wall that heads to our house. The path has small lights which will help you find your way. The walk should take you 5 minutes.
